Bible Reading Comments from 1/14/2014
Comments from the Tyndale Bible for 1/16. Wouldn't it be womderful if the world and all it's people were living as God's family in the Garden of Eden? But we are not. The readings for today reveal two things. The sin and decay of the fallen people and God's redeeming work. He will redeem the world. We have a hard time capturing the process and the nature of the result. We like the final condition. It is is a place where all dwell together in unity and harmony. We conveniently forget about or ignore the part about following God. Notice in Genesis 34 the story about Shechem. There was an apparent solution to he "minor" problem of him raping Jacob's daughter. Why do you think God didn't allow the "friendly" solution? Was it because some of Jacob's sons wanted revenge? Eventually God will bring us all together. We will love each other. We will not love because we want something in return. We will love because we believe in and follow the One True and living God. Can any of us do this purely now? Not for me to judge. God is the judge. What can I do about this problem? Follow God! Gain wisdom! Hear the word! Do it live it, don't just know about it. Read these words for today again and think about these things. Go to church. Ask God to reveal the work He has for you. Ask for an open heart to hear and do.
